Tarmac open new concrete plant in Bristol

TARMAC have opened a new ready-mixed concrete plant in the St. Anne’s district of Bristol. Supplied by Liebherr and installed over a 20-week period, the new environmentally friendly plant primarily uses a wet-batch process and has the added benefits of significantly higher material storage and output capabilities, more than doubling hourly output from 36 cubic metres to 80 cubic metres.

Tarmac have also invested in worker and visitor safety at the site in line with the company’s stringent ‘zero tolerance’ health and safety policy. This has included redesigning work flows on site so that pedestrians are kept separate from lorries, as well as the creation of a specially made visitor centre.

The plant will supply ready-mixed concrete to several high-profile projects in the city, including Bristol Harbourside and the University of the West of England.
