‘Tarmac Online’ goes live

TARMAC customers are set to save time and money with the launch of ‘Tarmac Online’, which the company says is the construction industry’s most comprehensive web-based customer portal.

Following consultation with existing customers and website development work with Microsoft and leading IT consultancy Conchango, Tarmac say the cutting-edge service has been developed in response to the construction industry’s appetite for e-business.

The new online service has four main functions: ‘e-Account’, which allows customers to view their account, lodge and track invoice queries, obtain copy invoices and proofs of delivery, and download information to Excel; ‘e-Tracker’, which provides a live window on the progress of the day’s dispatches; ‘e-Order’, which allows clients to view quotations and place orders; and ‘e-Report’, which allows customers to compile longer-term purchasing reports, and to transfer product, delivery location and other data into Excel.

According to Tarmac, the service will deliver unrivalled benefits to customers, in terms of transaction efficiencies, cost savings, and provision of valuable information.

Kate Boyle, the company’s e-business manager, commented: ‘Tarmac Online will allow us to meet clients’ changing demands and respond to how they increasingly want to do business – online.

‘Two thousand customers are now using the new system, and the Tarmac team is using its expertise and experience to ensure customers know how to get the most out of the service. We will continue to work in partnership with customers to develop and improve Tarmac Online, which lays the foundations for our future e-business developments.’
