Nationwide graduate recruitment programme for 2018 now open for new applicants

TARMAC have reaffirmed their commitment to skills development by launching their nationwide graduate recruitment programme for 2018, which is now open for applicants.

The programme will see 44 university leavers join the company next year in a variety of roles, including general management, technical and engineering, operations management and finance.

Working as part of established teams in roles across the business, each new recruit will complete a two- or three-year placement designed to offer graduates a balance of hands-on experience and skills development in a chosen specialism, alongside a formal training programme.

Commenting on the scheme, Martin Riley, Tarmac’s senior vice-president, said: ‘Our people are what make our business, and our graduate scheme is just one of the ways in which we are developing the future leaders of our industry.

‘We want to give each colleague the opportunity to achieve their full potential and make their mark by delivering outstanding service to customers, to help build the country’s infrastructure together.’

Scott Connelly, a graduate from Tarmac’s 2015 intake, has progressed through a number of different roles across the business, including positions in technical, operations and commercial. He is now an analyst in the company’s Strategy and Corporate Development department.

Commenting on his experience with Tarmac, Mr Connelly said: ‘Alongside discovering what a great industry construction is, Tarmac’s graduate scheme has been fantastic at helping me to build my career by providing continuous ‘real-world’ learning opportunities, with a real focus on teamwork and management.

‘For me, the most valuable experience has been with working with colleagues at all levels across the business, to help learn from their expertise. Tarmac have given me the chance to shape my own career and I’d encourage others interested in shaping the UK’s future to apply for roles.’
