Strategic acquisitions for Aggregate Industries

"AGGREGATE Industries have expanded their presence in south-east and north-west England with the acquisition of Essex-based Bradwell Aggregates Ltd, who also trade as Karrimix; and Littler Readymix of Chester."

"Bradwell Aggregates own three sand and gravel quarries, two of which are currently operational at Danbury and Tiptree, while the third, Royal Oak, is expected to come on stream later this year."

"Karrimix operate five ready-mixed concrete plants at Purfleet, Wickford, Danbury, Colchester and Tiptree, giving Aggregate Industries their first foothold in Essex."

"Littler Readymix’s concrete plant in Chester will improve Aggregate Industries’ coverage of the Ellesmere Port, Chester, and greater Wirral markets."

"Commenting on the acquisitions, Aggregate Industries’ UK managing director, Bill Bolsover, said: ‘These purchases reflect our strategy of growth by acquisition of bolt-on aggregate and ready-mixed concrete businesses. In terms of ready-mixed concrete in particular, Karrimix and Littler Readymix achieve for us a significant presence in the markets of Essex and Cheshire.’"

"Meanwhile, Aggregate Industries have also strengthened their position in the asphalt and contracting market with the acquisition of Kennedy Asphalt Ltd."

"Kennedy’s asphalt plant and contracting business in Greater Manchester will complement Aggregate Industries’ existing network of facilities and surfacing operations in the North-West, while in the West Midlands, Kennedy’s surfacing operations will bring added value to Aggregate Industries’ new asphalt facility at Haughmond Hill Quarry in Shropshire."
