Semaphore add POP3 client capability to SCADA line
Semaphore have introduced POP3 (Post Office Protocol, version 3) client functionality to their T-BOX line of SCADA systems. POP3 enhances the ‘push’ messaging capabilities provided by T-BOX, allowing users to access site information anytime, anywhere, using a mobile phone, PDA or laptop.
The capability is now compatible with the company’s single-module SCADA remote terminal unit (RTU) and the T-BOX MS Modular System.
One of the major features of the T-BOX range is the alarm management system, which keeps multiple recipients informed of conditions via email, FTP and SMS text messaging. With access to a POP3 server, users are alerted by alarms via their hand-held devices, and they can also send messages to the RTU to perform remote monitoring functions.
According to Semaphore, T-BOX is the first IP-based telemetry solution that provides the complete integration of SCADA, control and communications functionally in one rugged package. It leverages easy-to-use web technologies and inexpensive public networks for decentralized monitoring and control systems.
