Sandvik launch range of DTH drill rigs

Sandvik Rock Processing and Sandvik BPI have introduced to the UK market a range of self-contained down-the-hole drill rigs capable of producing 76–165mm (3–6.5in) diameter holes. The first unit, a Titon 500, has already been sold to Crushrock (Scotland) Ltd.

Since the introduction of the Titon range more than 50 units have been delivered to customers in Europe and overseas. The range features a modern-design drilling package with the right amount of high-pressure air being delivered to the hammers for maximum productivity. Other benefits include: high-visibility ROPS/FOPS cabs with joystick controls for operator comfort; solid chassis for stability and longer machine life; heavy-duty undercarriages for maximum gradeability and rig stability; and accessible service points.

The range includes: the Titon 100, suitable for small quarries and construction sites, without a cab but with an onboard compressor for 3in hammer drilling; the Titon 200, designed to cover all 3–4in hammer drilling requirements in small- and medium-sized quarries; the Titon 300, which is a heavy-duty version of the Titon 200 but with more air volume and pressure to meet higher production needs; the Titon 400, which is a suitable match for the new Mission 4in mirror-impact hammer; and the Titon 500, designed for running 4–5in hammers at 24 bar.
