Safety Whip

Hanson Aggregates have equipped their growing fleet of JCB Groundhogs with 2m tall safety whips from Spillard Safety Systems’ AllRoundAlert range.

The small six-wheel-drive vehicles have proved to be an effective way of transporting engineers and their tools around the company’s quarries, but, because of their diminuitive size, concern had been expressed by Hanson’s safety team over their visibility to other operators working on site. With safety whips fitted to each vehicle, Spillard say the Groundhogs can now be used in complete safety as they are easily spotted by the drivers of much larger machinery.

Made from fibreglass and available in heights from 1.5m to 4m, the whips are equipped with bright-coloured flags and can, if required, incorporate a series of flashing LEDs for maximum visibility in dull conditions.
