Safety award for Trolex Air XS silica monitor

Air XS silica monitor

Real-time RCS monitor ‘Highly Commended’ at Safety and Health Excellence Awards

THE Trolex Air XS silica monitor – the world’s first real-time respirable crystalline silica (RCS) monitor – has been ‘Highly Commended’ in the Product Innovation category at the British Safety Industry Federation (BSiF) Awards, in association with the Safety and Health Excellence Awards, which took place on 6 April 2022 at The Vox, NEC, Birmingham.

The Product Innovation category recognized products that are new and innovative and will contribute to improvements in occupational health and safety.

The Air XS silica monitor is set to revolutionize worker safety within the construction sector by delivering real-time detection of dangerous respirable crystalline silica (RCS) particulates in airborne dust mixtures – on the job. Requiring no complicated set-up and only five minutes of maintenance a month, the monitor is easy to use and provides accurate monitoring with minimal training.

The Air XS silica monitor displays the presence of RCS mass by volume, while also being able to distinguish the presence of RSC within dust mixtures. In addition, the monitor can track changing concentrations of RCS content over time, letting workers know if the amount of RCS in their workspace is increasing as they work and when it has risen to dangerous levels.

Trolex managing director Steve Holland said: ‘It was a huge privilege to receive the Award at such an important industry event and is testament to all the work that has gone into developing this innovative product.

‘The Air XS silica monitor has the potential to save millions of lives. The development of this product signals an exciting period of growth and opportunity for the business and is set to have a huge impact on the industry.’
