Recycling firm opts for another Hyundai machine

Hyundai HX140 L excavator

M J Teale Plant Hire invest in new 14-tonne HX140 L hydraulic excavator for waste-management operations

LANCASHIRE-based M J Teale Plant Hire, specialists in the supply of recycled aggregates, bulk soil disposal and waste management, have recently purchased their third Hyundai machine – the HX140 L excavator.

The new machine follows a Hyundai R220-9A crawler excavator and HL757-9A wheel loader. Supplied by Cumbria-based Hyundai dealers Taylor & Braithwaite, all three products have been purchased in the space of 16 months and represent a total investment of around £250,000.

Mick Teale, managing director of M J Teale Plant Hire, said: ‘We were looking for a new 14-tonne machine and Kevin Bell from Taylor and Braithwaite suggested we try the new Hyundai HX140 L. We had the model on demonstration and thought it was an excellent performer. Not only is the machine fuel efficient it’s also extremely quiet.’

Another impressive feature of the excavator is the AAVM camera system, which has four cameras working collaboratively to provide a 360° image of the working range around the machine.

Mr Teale explained: ‘From a safety point of view this is fantastic. It secures a field of vision in all directions with nine different viewing options, including a 3D bird’s-eye view. As well as safeguarding the operator and site personnel, the camera system increases the resale value of the machine as safety becomes more and more important on a jobsite.’

The Hyundai AAVM camera system also incorporates IMOD (Intelligent Moving Object Detection), which informs the operator when people or dangerous objects are detected within a 16.5ft (5m) radius of the HX140 L, offering the operator hi-precision control over the machine and its surroundings. IMOD indicates all movements around the machine and this is shown on the AAVM unit’s 8in interactive, adjustable and touchscreen cluster-monitor in the cab.

Josh Teale, trainee site manager and operator for M J Teale, has operated all of the Hyundai machines, including the latest HX140 L. He said: ‘The excavator is very smooth to run and in the time we have been using it, we have found that it’s able to complete the job more efficiently than other 14 tonne machines I have operated. I’m impressed with the performance and reliability that all the Hyundai machines offer and the addition of the around view camera system takes safety to a new level.’
