R. Keith Price Haulage convert to Renault Trucks

Renault Trucks C380

Machynlleth-based concrete logistics provider for TG Group takes delivery of C380 6x4 with McPhee mixer

NORTH Powys-based family business R. Keith Price Haulage Ltd have taken delivery of their first Renault truck – a C380 6x4 with day cab and 7m McPhee mixer drum. Previously running a competitor manufacturer’s vehicles for 28 years, it was the seamless service and engagement from Renault Trucks’ approved dealer, Border Trucks, and maintenance from Perrys of Gobowen, together with the reputation of the Renault Trucks C, that prompted the move.

The C380 joins two other truckmixers working with TG Concrete, part of the Tudor Griffiths Group, one of the UK’s leading independent suppliers of construction and building materials, ready-mixed concrete and liquid floor screed, and is being deployed to deliver concrete across Mid- and West Wales.

A chance ‘meeting’ through social media platform Facebook led to an online conversation with Stephen Whitehead, managing director of Carlisle-based Border Trucks, who are located more than 200 miles away from the Welsh haulage business. Keith Price explained: ‘I’ve had a competitor’s vehicles for more than 28 years and their service offering, in particular, was moving further away from my requirements; it was time for a change.

‘I’d been following and admiring the vehicles on Border Trucks’ Facebook page and saw other people buying them and I was impressed. I started chatting with Stephen and he was extremely responsive to queries and ultimately helped to arrange everything, including the finance package. From the first enquiry through to the delivery of the vehicle, Border Trucks made the process flawless.’

The new C380’s striking livery is in TG Group’s colours, including the painted 7m mixer drum adorned with the Welsh flag. The vehicle is equipped with ‘jumbo’ LED lightbar and beacons, reversing camera and LED reversing lights, FMS Gateway, four-point cab air suspension with ride-height control system, and comfort air-conditioning. Mr Price also upgraded to a five-year, 50,000km per annum repair and maintenance contract for additional peace of mind.

As an owner driver, Mr Price is behind the wheel of the C380 on a daily basis. ‘I’ve been out on the road putting it through its paces and I really can’t fault it; from comfort to performance and durability, I like everything about it. The truck has been in for routine inspections with the team at Perrys and I’m very happy with their level of service too,’ he noted.

‘After running with a competitor manufacturer’s vehicles for the best part of 30 years, it was definitely time for a change. Our relationship with Border Trucks really has been pivotal in us taking on Renault Trucks as a new manufacturer, and so far I’ve been delighted, so much so that I’m looking to replace another in my fleet in the near future,’ said Mr Price.
