Portable gas detector from Honeywell

Honeywell, manufacturers of industrial and automation equipment, have launched a new portable single-gas detector with docking, testing, calibration and recharging capability, as part of their recently expanded X series of gas-detection products.

The Honeywell Analytics XD, which also features data-logging, can monitor many common toxic hazards, including sulphur dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, chlorine and ammonia.

Designed to accommodate the health and safety of multiple users, up to 10 XD units, or a combination of XD and X5 (five-gas detector) detectors, can be connected to Honeywell’s optional MicroDock II docking station, allowing the safety manager to oversee calibration, bump testing and data-logging from one workstation.

The XD gas detector offers, among its many features, a water-resistant, IP66/67-rated housing, EMI/RFI resistance, a built-in concussion-proof boot and an integrated IR COM port, which allows for automatic data transfer to a computer or MicroDock II.

The unit’s large, easy-to-read display includes a built-in backlight that provides clear viewing of gas concentration levels and other vital data, even in dim light conditions. To alert the user to hazardous conditions, a four-level loud alarm (low, high, TWA and STEL), flashing LED light bars and an internal vibrator are utilized.

The XD is powered by a two-year, 3V replaceable lithium battery and comes with a standard 24-month factory warranty.
