On the right track

Finning (UK) have supplied UK Coal with Cat link assemblies for five O&K RH30 excavators at sites throughout central England. With the use of advanced diagnostic tooling, Finning engineers predicted the optimum track replacement time for each machine and successfully matched the undercarriage from a Cat 245 hydraulic excavator.

Brian Robertson, UK Coal’s transport and general manager, commented: ‘We have always had a company policy of fitting genuine Cat parts to our Caterpillar fleet and have now decided, where possible, to fit them to other machines too. After carefully monitoring and comparing the performance and lifetime costs of Cat link assemblies against other undercarriage systems, we calculated that Cat tracks last around 26% longer.’

Finning engineers also worked closely with UK Coal in conducting regular track inspections and planning the replacement of components to minimize downtime.
