Not too hot to handle

"A stockpile chute designed specifically to handle hot cement clinker (up to 450°C) is now up and running at Tudela Veguin SA’s plant at Oviedo, Spain."

"This was the first time Cleveland Cascades had been asked to design a chute to handle such a product, which as well as being extremely hot, is also very abrasive with a particle size of up to 10cm."

"Following developmental work, Cleveland Cascade’s design engineers devised a lining for the cones made of 6mm thick chromium carbide welded to a mild steel backing plate of the same thickness. The chute’s material-detection system also received special attention, while the shroud and skirt were made from silicon-coated kevlar and EPDM rubber, respectively."
