New Milton Sand & Ballast Co. use GPS tracking system to achieve business goals

RECYCLED aggregates suppliers New Milton Sand & Ballast Co. (NMSB) say they are reaping the rewards of vehicle telematics technology through the use of Teletrac Navman’s connected fleet-management platform – DIRECTOR.

Family-owned NMSB, who have supplying construction materials to South Hampshire and East Dorset since 1936, approached Teletrac Navman to help them achieve increased productivity, reductions in fuel costs and major gains in fleet safety and compliance.

The construction industry is very customer orientated: most projects have tight timelines and budgets; and many different contractors are working in unison, so the timely delivery of materials is of high importance.

Having a reliable fleet management solution is critical for building material producers and suppliers, and NMSB needed a telematics system that could provide accurate, up-to-date information on their fleet (eg skip lorries, cement mixers, tippers etc.), the performance of the company’s drivers and the service health of each vehicle at the touch of a button.

Teletrac Navman recommended their advanced DIRECTOR tracking offering, which provides fleet operators with a range of information, from the location of individual vehicles (tracked in real time) to monitoring fuel usage and driver performance.

When coupled with Teletrac Navman’s Safety Analytics performance reporting, it can also help to significantly reduce fuel costs through more effective route planning, optimized vehicle usage, increased business productivity and improved driver behaviour, which leads to fewer incidents.

Paul Whittingham, transport manager for NMSB, said: ‘We are always looking to continually improve our processes to ensure we remain cost-effective, efficient, compliant and relevant to our customers.

‘With DIRECTOR, we are now able to offer our customers complete transparency on vehicle locations and better manage their expectations which has, ultimately, led to us building stronger relationships with them and that can only be good for the future of the business.’
