New set of teeth from Caterpillar
The new K-series tooth system for Caterpillar buckets has been designed to reduce downtime and improve digging performance. The twist-on design and vertical retainer ensure reliable retention and easy removal and installation.
The K-series is said to provide increased tip life of up to 15% compared with previous ground-engaging tools, with better penetration and sharpness maintained for much longer. Tips can also be changed in approximately half the time it takes to change other styles.
The twist-on procedure makes the installation quick and easy, while the new system allows the tip to grip the adapter tighter the harder it digs into material. The tips are installed with a slight twist and secured with a one-piece retainer assembly that slips vertically into the tooth, rather than being hammered into the sides. All that is needed to remove or install the drive-through retainer is a tap with a hammer. The tips for large wheel loaders and excavators will feature a hammerless retainer that can be removed with a prying tool.
The K-series tooth system is available with 11 tip options including penetration plugs, general duty, extra duty, penetration, wide, double spike, spike, heavy penetration, and heavy abrasion, plus two ARM versions.
