£133 million acquisition sees SigmaRoc become leading producer of lime products in the UK

FURTHER to their announcement on 4 March 2024, Northern European-quoted lime and limestone group SigmaRoc have today completed the acquisition of the UK lime operations of CRH plc for a total consideration of €155 million (approx. £133 million).

Founded in 1891 and headquartered in Buxton, Derbyshire, the business operates from Tarmac sites at Tunstead and Hindlow, with a total of five permitted lime kilns. Both sites will be retained by CRH, with material being sold to SigmaRoc under long-term supply agreements.

 

In the year ending 31 December 2022, CRH’s lime business generated revenue of €105.4 million (approx. £90 million) and an operating profit of €19.5 million (approx. £17 million).
