New Renault truck for Clwyd Transport Services

Comfort and strong performance key factors in Range C tipper purchase 

WREXHAM-based Clwyd Transport Services have taken delivery of their first-ever Renault truck – a 32-tonne Range C460 8x4 unit. The new tipper is undertaking both short and long haul contracts all over the UK and was the standout vehicle of choice for driver Gareth Davies, offering the ultimate in operator comfort, as well as performance. 

He commented: ‘As I’m away all week, space is key for me. It feels like it’s got 10 times more room than my old truck and that the Range C was designed with the driver in mind. The comfort is second-to-none and there’s so much room in the cab that I can actually stand up to get changed.’

Supplied by JDS Truck and Van of Manchester, the Range C460, with sleeper cab, is fitted to a Fruehauf planksider semi-bulker tipping body and features additional chassis reinforcement, from the front of the drive axle to the rear for greater durability when challenging construction sites.

Recommendation played a part in the new vehicle selection for Clwyd Transport Services, as Mr Davies said: ‘The Range C came highly recommend to me by other operators, so I just sat in one and was blown away. There was also competitive deal on the table, including a four-year warranty.’

Mr Davies chose a plethora of cab interior extras, ranging from heated seats with leather trim and a performance lower bunk with dedicated lighting and remote control to a night heater and steering wheel with cruise and telephone control.

He continued: ‘James Duffy from JDS has been on the ball throughout the sales process making sure the truck was exactly what I wanted. The aftersales service has been excellent too - I really can’t fault them at all.

‘The Range C doesn’t disappoint and I couldn’t have chosen a better truck. It’s been on the road now for about six weeks and the initial fuel figures are promising, as I’m getting an additional three miles per gallon more than my old vehicle.’
