New products from CNS Farnell
CNS Farnell Ltd have introduced a data-collection package for the UK dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP). Developed in conjunction with Pavement Technology Ltd (PTL), it is designed to make the collection of data from the DCP as simple and foolproof as possible.
The software runs on a hand-held PDA and is structured so that it is virtually impossible for the user to make a mistake. PTL have tested its operation over several months, resulting in saved man-hours – what used to take an hour, now only takes 10min.
The PRIma100 lightweight falling weight deflectometer (FWD) from CarlBro is also available from CNS Farnell.
Said to provide fast in-situ control of unbound base layers, sub-bases or compacted layers, the PRIma100 is suitable for compaction control for any sort of pavement construction as well as trenches and flooring.
Needing only one person to operate it, the instrument can be used in difficult to access locations. Analysis and reporting can also be done quickly and easily on site. The addition of Bluetooth and/or GPS modules allows wireless transmission of data and the ability to present data in maps or plans of the site.
