New LTI record for Finning

Finning

Finning UK & Ireland’s 1,800 employees clock up 15 months with no lost-time incidents

EMPLOYEES from Finning UK & Ireland have clocked up a company record with more than 450 days and still counting without a lost-time incident (LTI). With 1,800 employees, this equates to more than 4.5 million hours across all sites without a serious workplace injury.

Sticking to their ‘Work Safe. Home Safe.’ motto, Finning’s health and safety is improving year on year with a continual downward trend in work-related incidents.

The company’s commitment to health and safety has not gone unnoticed, with six years of consecutive RoSPA awards, including the Sir George Earle Trophy in 2012 – the highest-possible health and safety accolade across industries in the UK.

Keith Oakes, head of health and safety at Finning UK & Ireland, commented: ‘Finning work across a wide range of industries, some of which have an undeserved reputation for poor health and safety. We have proved that with the involvement and engagement of our employees, and by having proper training is in place, you can minimize or even eliminate the chances of an accident.’

He added: ‘We are extremely proud of our employees in achieving this impressive landmark and it demonstrates our ongoing and unwavering commitment to being a world-class safety organization.’

As part of their celebrations in achieving this feat, Finning distributed a gift pack to all employees, which included a first-aid kit that could be used at home.

Mr Oakes continued: ‘We recognize the entire workforce’s contribution to this landmark, so we wanted to thank everyone individually and show how much we appreciate the continual focus on health and safety.’
