New low-cost in-line flow meter
Webtec Products have added a new in-line hydraulic flow meter to their range of Webster test equipment.
The design of the WP offers repeatability over a wide viscosity range and a low-pressure drop across the meter. The meters are available in a wide range of flow sizes, different porting options, and are compatible with water, hydraulic oils and phosphate esters. Designed for use in hydraulic circuits in both industrial and mobile equipment, they are either permanently mounted in-line or can be used intermittently to aid troubleshooting. Typical applications include monitoring pump outlet and case drain flows.
WP meters cover a large flow range; the smallest meter measures down to 0.5 litres/min and the largest measures up to 550 litres/min. They are rated for pressures up to 240 bar (3,500 lb/in2) and temperatures up to 115øC. For flows up to 375 litres/min, a typical pressure drop is less than 1 bar. Repeatability is greater than ñ1% of full scale viscosities up to 95cSt.
The aluminium flow meters can be mounted in any orientation and come in a range of port sizes, from 0.25in to 2in. Flow rate is measured using an annular disk with a sharp-edged orifice that slides within a tube. The disk is magnetically linked to an indicator that is external to the flow. Flow rates can then be read off the graduated scale in both US gallons and litres/min.
