New large crawler excavators from Doosan

Doosan DX480LCS crawler excavator

South Korean manufacturer launches two new models for the Middle East and Africa markets

DOOSAN Construction Equipment have unveiled the new 48-tonne DX480LCA and 51-tonne DX520LCA crawler excavator models for markets in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. This is the latest phase in the launch of the new LCA generation of Doosan crawler excavators for MEA, replacing the previous SOLAR range, which began in 2012 with the introduction of the new DX225LCA, DX300LCA and DX340LCA models and is due to be completed by the end of the year.

The new DX480LCA and DX520LCA excavators are designed to be leaders in their respective weight classes. The former is a very powerful machine with extra reach and stability, allowing it to accomplish long cycles and heavy pulling work with ease.

The DX520LCA model offers exceptional stability and lifting capabilities. It has been designed to be a mass excavation machine fitted with an extra heavy counterweight and a short front end to deliver more breakout force for tough digging jobs.

The new excavators are powered by a Doosan DE12TIS 6-cylinder air-to-air intercooler Tier II compliant diesel engine that produces 238kW (318hp) at 2,000 rev/min, using a mechanical injection system. Owing to the incorporation of a new travel motor, both machines deliver a massive tractive effort of 37.6 tonnes.

Bucket and dipper stick breakout forces have also increased, together with a significant increase in the hydraulic flow from the pumps. The latest LCA generation excavators share a common design particularly suited to the specific needs of the MEA markets, combining high robustness with a number of important new functionalities and technical improvements.

The operating weight of the new DX480LCA excavator varies from 48.4 to 50.2 tonne, depending on the configuration while the DX520LCA varies from 51.1 to 52.9 tonne.

In its standard configuration, the DX480LCA model offers a bucket capacity ranging from 1.71 to 2.86 cubic metres, a maximum digging depth of 7,810mm, a maximum digging reach of 12,120mm and a maximum digging height of 11,080mm.

The standard version of the DX520LCA excavator offers a bucket capacity from 0.93 to 3.6 cubic metres, a maximum digging depth of 6,770mm, a maximum reach of 10,750mm and a maximum digging height of 9,600mm.
