New Kiverco waste-recycling plant for McKinstry Group
Bright future beckons for Northern Ireland as cutting-edge C&D waste-processing facility takes shape
TWO Northern Ireland-based companies operating within the waste-management industry have announced a major partnership agreement that will set the standard for construction, demolition, and industrial (CD&I) waste recycling in the country.
Co. Antrim-based McKinstry Group have awarded a multi-million-pound contract to plant manufacturers Kiverco to design, build, and install a new CD&I waste-processing station, which will be one of the largest and most advanced recycling plants in the UK.
The announcement marks a new era for the McKinstry Group, who have grown from a small family business to being one of the leading waste-recycling operators in Northern Ireland. The £16 million project will include substantial investments in groundworks and the construction of a new building to house the plant installation.
For McKinstry, the key to the success of the project was finding a trusted partner to help design and develop a cutting-edge, future-proof facility that aligns with the company’s aspirations. After consultation with several leading OEMs and extensive research across the UK and Ireland, McKinstry opted for Kiverco’s proven technology, know-how, and expertise to provide their new CD&I recycling station.
Darren McKinstry, managing director of McKinstry Group, commented: ‘We have been working on this project for several years now and are confident that we have found the right partner to deliver a class-leading materials recycling plant fit for the future.
‘Kiverco’s reputation within the recycling industry is unsurpassed; they are industry-renowned for manufacturing robust plants that are tough and built to last. Throughout our time working together on this project, Kiverco’s determination to ensure our new recycling plant is as technologically advanced as possible, as well as meeting the key objectives of our business, has been impressive.’
JP Devlin, sales manager at Kiverco, who has been committed to the project since initial discussions began nearly five years ago, said: ‘McKinstry and Kiverco share the same values – we take pride in our work, and honesty and respect are at the core of everything we do. We have wholeheartedly embraced this project and considered every aspect of the plant design to ensure it will be the best, most technologically advanced plant of its kind.’
John Irwin, managing director of Kiverco, added: ‘We can’t overstate the importance of this new facility on our doorstep here in Northern Ireland. Kiverco has a strong reputation in the industry for installing large bespoke static plants in the UK, Ireland, and international markets, and securing this contract for such an impressive facility in County Antrim is transformational for the waste-management sector.'
Installation of the new Kiverco waste-processing plant will commence in September this year, with final commission scheduled for December 2025.
