New Holland double for Jody Ryan

Quarry operators Jody Ryan Ltd have acquired a New Holland E385 excavator and a New Holland W270 wheel loader for use at their Newport Quarry in County Tipperary, Ireland.

The E385 has been chosen for its design build and power, as the machine weighs 38,405kg and is powered by an 185kW engine. Another feature that has impressed Jody Ryan is the excavator’s high-breakout force of 22,000daN, which can be increased by as much as 10% in short bursts via the ‘Powerboost’ button.

This results in more aggressive penetration when handling difficult material, and ensures the 1.8m3 bucket is fully loaded, improving efficiency and cycle time.

The E385’s one-piece boom has a forward reach of over 10m, with a digging depth of up to 8.23m and a digging height of more than 10m.

Meanwhile, the W270 wheel loader, powered by a 202kW engine, weighs nearly 24,000kg, features a 4.6m3 bucket and has a maximum speed of 36.9km/h – making it suitable for load- and-carry operations. A breakout force of up to 22,700daN gives the W270 improved aggressive penetration of the stockpile, minimizes wheel spin and as a result, helps reduce tyre wear and tear.
