New HammerTech breaker

HammerTech have launched the HT 5000 excavator-mounted hydraulic breaker, designed for use with 15–26-tonne hydraulic excavators.

The 1.5-tonne breaker, believed to be one of the most powerful hydraulic breakers available in its weight class, produces an impact energy of 5,200J/blow. HammerTech say that to achieve similar impact energy from a conventional breaker would require a unit weighing between 2–3 tonnes and a much larger (21–40-tonne) host excavator to operate it.

An almost total lack of vibration from the HT 5000 breaker results in less fatigue for the host machine and operator. This is particularly important for plant-hire companies, as many do not allow traditional hydraulic breakers to be fitted to mini excavators or loaders because of the damage caused by vibration. The hammer’s noise level is also lower than a conventional breaker of the same size. This is because the HT 5000 operates at a much lower frequency but with a more powerful striking rate than normal breakers.
