New Caterpillar GC S-Series hammers

Cat GC S-Series hydraulic hammer

Latest excavator attachments offer increased efficiency and reduce operating costs

CATERPILLAR Work Tools have introduced their new GC S-Series hammer range for use on hydraulic excavators from 13–40 tons.

The H115 GS S, H120 GC S, H130 GC S and H140 GC S models are said to combine optimum power-to-weight ratios with design simplicity to ensure reliable performance, versatility and easy operation and maintenance in a range of applications, including quarrying, demolition and construction.

For optimum performance, Caterpillar-designed hydraulic kits are available to provide an exact hammer-to-machine fit for Cat excavators.

The GC S-Series hammers have been designed to deliver optimum impact power and reduced operating costs, thanks to a gas-fired operating design cycle that provides hammer efficiency and continuous reliable performance.

Other GC S-Series features include: automatic shut-off, which provides blank-firing protection by stopping the piston from cycling internally when no material is under the tool; and an automatic lubrication system that eliminates manual greasing.

A standard feature in each GC S-Series hammer is its protective, enclosed housing which has been specially designed to reduce operating noise levels across the job site. A high-pressure accumulator is also standard on the hammers, which helps protect the carrier hydraulic circuit by absorbing pressure spikes created during a firing stroke.

The top-mount design of the Cat GC S-Series hammers is said to increase impact power by ensuring the hammer and stick forces are consistently in line. The top-mount style also provides a larger working area and enhances visibility for the operator. A stroke adjuster feature allows the hammer speed/frequency to be easily adjusted to match specific applications and materials for optimum productivity.

For easy maintenance, full-length side plates on the hammers provide convenient access to key service points.
