MPA Health & Safety Awards 2013

Spotlight on competence as Mineral Products Association celebrates top health and safety achievements

THE Mineral Products Association’s prestigious Health & Safety Conference and Awards 2013 took place earlier this week at BAFTA, London, bringing together 64 organizations, including members, contractors and other key stakeholders from the length and breadth of the UK to recognize, reward and share best practice, progress and results in health and safety.

In total, the Awards attracted 145 entries from 35 different organizations, with almost half of submissions provided by companies with less than 1,000 direct employees.

The two overall winners of this year’s independently judged awards were Myers Group, who won the Sir Frank Davies Trophy for companies with less than 1,000 employees, and CEMEX UK, who won the John Crabbe Memorial Trophy for overall ‘outstanding excellence in health and safety’.

Nigel Jackson, chief executive MPA, said: ‘Yet again we have had an increased number of high-quality submissions from a wider range of members. Recognizing, celebrating and sharing such great ideas is a key part of our efforts to achieve Zero Harm.’

Full details of the MPA Health & Safety Conference and Awards 2013 will appear in next week’s dedicated Safety, Health & Environment Bulletin – a new monthly Agg-Net electronic newsletter (starting Tuesday 19 November) covering the latest news, issues, developments, products, equipment, services and case studies relating to workplace/occupational health & safety and environmental matters in the extractives sector.
