Metso Outotec develop new electric Lokotrack range

Lokotrack

Company building full line-up of electrically driven track-mounted crushers and screens

IN response to growing demand for sustainable solutions, Metso Outotec are developing a complete range of electrically driven track-mounted crushers and screens for the aggregates industry.

The new Lokotrack range will be built on a unique platform that Metso Outotec have been developing since 2020 with a total research and development investment of €20 million.

With the platform concept now developed, the company is currently entering the design phase for the first new products.

Metso Outotec say the new Lokotrack range will be transformational for mobile crushing and screening and will also significantly contribute to their own Planet Positive strategy and their commitment to reach the 1.5°C climate target.

‘The next-generation Lokotrack range will address the needs of our crushing and screening customers by providing new, easy-to-use, diesel-electric equipment,’ commented Renaud Lapointe, senior vice-president of Metso Outotec’s Aggregates business area.

‘The ability to run track-mounted machines from an integrated genset or to connect to an external power source will lower operational costs and allow access to renewable energy for our customers.’

According to Jarmo Vuorenpää, director of the new Lokotrack offering, the new, unique platform will also enable a faster and more agile way to develop products and reduce the number of components.

‘Using one common architecture throughout the range will allow scalable solutions that can be seamlessly combined and adapted for different applications and capacities,’ he said. ‘Harmonized design together with advanced digital solutions will enable our global service network to support customers throughout the entire equipment lifecycle.’
