Metrix velocity sensor

ONE of the key features of the Metrix 5485C velocity sensor is that it employs a zero-friction coil suspension, ensuring accurate and repeatable vibration measurements over wide ranges of amplitude and frequency from –54oC to 375oC.

Owing to its sealed stainless steel housing and rugged internal design to ensure durability, the device, say Metrix Instrument Co., can operate continuously in high-temperature and hazardous applications.

Damping is electromagnetic and solely viscous; as no friction prone air damping is provided, small vibrations can be detected at low frequencies. Zero friction also allows infinite resolution.

The sensor’s coil bobbin is suspended by two non-twisting, circular spider springs that provide a clean frequency response, while the frequency response range is 15 to 2,000Hz and sensitivity versus temperature is less than 0.02%/oC.

The unit is available with either fixed armoured cable or a two-pin connector (requires mating model 4850-XXX cable).
