Major FM deal for AMPL at Bardon and Croft

"AMPL Ltd, the plant facilities management (FM), fleet and temporary accommodation arm of Alfred McAlpine Group, have won a major new £11 million load and haul contract at Aggregate Industries’ Bardon Hill and Croft quarries in Leicestershire."

"The contract was awarded to AMPL earlier this year after they demonstrated how, by optimizing the fleet requirements within each quarry, improving haul road design and maintenance, and focusing on production-related issues, they could significantly improve the efficiency of Aggregate Industries’ fleet operations."

"The negotiated five-year contract, previously managed internally, covers the supply and operation of a new fleet of Caterpillar equipment and allows Aggregate Industries to focus on core business activities and limit their level of risk through fixed budgeted costs, full maintenance and service of all machinery and guaranteed levels of availability and production."

"AMPL have invested over £5 million on the new fleet of equipment which comprises one Cat 992G and one 990 II wheel loader, four Cat 777D and four 775E rigid dumptrucks and two Cat 365LME excavators."

"Colin Jenkins, regional director of Bardon Aggregates in the Midlands, said: ‘The agreement is the result of open-book negotiations with AMPL over the last 12 months. Overall, it allows us to focus on the broader quarrying, manufacturing and commercial issues associated with operating such large granite operations as Bardon and Croft.’"

"George Crompton, managing director of AMPL, added: ‘The contract is a prime example of a professional FM approach to achieve optimum resource management within defined areas of operation. The contract fits with our plan to provide tailored, complete plant solutions in line with changing customer needs.’"
