Liebherr open new research and development centre

Liebherr R&D centre

€30 million facility to help company research, develop and test new construction equipment

LIEBHERR have officially opened their new research, development and demonstration centre at the company’s Kirchdorf factory in Germany, which manufactures machines for the UK market.

The state-of-the-art facility will be used to develop and test new construction and material-handling equipment, supporting Liebherr’s continued evolution and innovation in the design and manufacture of their products.

The modern R&D centre spans 12.7ha and includes: a testing hall; demonstration area; and 1.2km test track where operational environments can be simulated and machines put through their paces under the most challenging conditions.

Lee Palmer, managing director of Liebherr GB, commented: ‘This investment demonstrates Liebherr’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of the UK and global material-handler and construction machine markets.

‘It’s great news for our customers who will benefit from the innovation that this centre will enable us to bring to life and the continued improvements in the reliability, efficiency and operational performance of our machines.’

Around 1,400 visitors from all over the world recently attended the official opening of the new centre. Guests were given a factory tour and watched a series of product demonstrations before having the opportunity to be taken around the test track in a Liebherr machine.
