Latest addition to Dash-5 series

"Marubeni-Komatsu have announced the availability of the 19-tonne WA400-5, which now extends the Dash-5 range to four models."

"Powered by a Komatsu-designed engine that develops 154kW (208hp) at 2,000 rev/min and drives via a ‘high-power’ torque converter, the WA400-5 offers significant increases in both traction and hill-climbing ability."

"Able to carry buckets from 3.3m3 to 5.5m3, the WA400 offers simplicity of operation and driver comfort. Komatsu’s new SpaceCab has 25% more volume than the older model, an ergonomically designed air-cushioned seat and a reach-and-rake adjustable steering column. Internal and external noise levels are 71dB(A) and 105dB(A) respectively."

"A long lifting frame provides a maximum dumping height of 3,031mm with a reach of 1,161mm when the machine is equipped with the universal 3.3m3 bucket."

"Maintenance and service access has been improved using large gull-wing doors around the engine bay, and engine oil and filter change intervals have been doubled to 500h. An on-board data-diagnosis display simplifies and speeds up service procedures via a character display system."

"Komatsu also offer an optional semi-automatic ‘dig’ function aided by electrical pre-selection. This allows a pre-programmed bucket-filling operation to be carried out, requiring no manual operation of the bucket controls when digging out a stockpile."
