Lafarge Aggregates choose SuperDrive

Following demonstrations of the new SuperDrive jib head unit at Canning Conveyor’s recent ‘open week’, Lafarge Aggregates have become the first company to take delivery the new jib head unit together with a 9m loop take-up unit and grading section.

Now fully operational at Whisby Quarry, near Lincoln, the 75kW double-drum SuperDrive and grading section form part of an extension to an existing field conveyor. The conveyor is currently 350m in length but there are plans to increase this to 700m this spring and the new ‘SuperDrive’ will fully cater for this extension.

Quarry manager Richard Allott commented: ‘I was initially looking at new and second-hand conventional drives but when I saw the SuperDrive in operation I was impressed with the set-up, smoothness and how quietly it operated. What swung it for me though, was the competitive price and warranty deal.’

The SuperDrive unit comes with a three-year warranty, and although the initial drive was manufactured with rubber diamond-lagged drive drums, Canning say all future standard SuperDrive units will feature ceramic-lagged drive drums.

Lafarge also ordered 425 750mm Canning heavy-duty polymer suspended sets with polymer handles, 300 750mm heavy-duty polymer return rollers and 1,260m of new Cannoflex 750mm EP500/3, 5+1.5 conveyor belt.
