Joined-up training

EMP Awarding Body has announced the launch of its accreditation scheme for training programmes within the extractives and minerals processing industries.

Formerly run by Epic Training and Consulting Ltd, the scheme has been specially devised to ensure that industry has access to the highest-quality training programmes and that ‘joined-up’ training within a company can take place by carefully matching the training provided (where applicable) to the needs of the employees, who may also be working towards some of the NVQs devised by the industry to help meet its health and safety targets.

The accreditation criteria will ensure that the training programme is both relevant to industry requirements and quality assured for both the training and any assessment which takes place. The scheme will give buyers of training the confidence that an external, government-recognized body has assessed the training programme against strict criteria and conducts regular sampling to ensure the criteria are consistently being met.

Providers of training programmes using this scheme will have the added advantage of independent assessment against high-quality benchmarks for the training, plus the opportunity to offer clients considerable added value, over and above just the training programme, by showing how the programme matches to National Occupational Standards for the industry.

The scheme is open to external training providers of any size and to in-company training schemes. For further details of the EMP Accreditation scheme, contact EMP Awarding Body Ltd on tel: (01480) 479267.
