JCB enter the generator market

Earlier this year JCB entered the UK generator market with the launch of a brand new range of diesel-powered generators designed for both prime power and standby power applications. The 42-model range is available in 18 power outputs from 15kVA to 500kVA and all models are available as open units or with sound-attenuated canopies manufactured from heavy-duty polymer-powder-coated galvanized steel.

Six of the generators have been specifically developed for the rental market, with standard features including a 24h fuel tank, 110% bunded base, forklift slots, Racor fuel/water filter, earth leakage protection and multiple sockets.

JCB’s own 4.4-litre 444 diesel engine is used to power the mid-range (50–100kVA) models, which account for some 40% of UK generator demand. The smaller generators use Deutz diesel engines while the larger units are powered by Sisu and Scania diesels. Electrical power is provided by Newage alternators across the entire range.

All of the generators are equipped with a digital control panel as standard, with features including an event log, alarm list, real-time clock, maintenance call, and engine ECU-CAN support, including fault-code diagnosis and the ability to operate the unit remotely via a GSM modem connection.
