ITT launch new heavy-duty slurry pump

Latest Goulds XHD pump sets new standards for reliability and lowers total cost of ownership

ITT Corporation have introduced their new Goulds XHD (Extra Heavy Duty) lined slurry pump, which, they say, can handle the heaviest slurry under the toughest working conditions.

Designed for use in mining and related industries, including applications involving mineral processing and sand and aggregates, the new XHD pump features a double-wall construction, full metric design and a large-diameter closed impeller, which extends wear life by delivering lower rev/min operation.

The XHD’s short bearing housing is easily adaptable to most existing foundations, allowing retrofitting in place of existing pumps without investing in costly refitting of pipes, electrical lines and concrete base structures.

Key features of the new slurry pump include: an adjustable suction seal ring that allows adjustment even when the pump is running, thus compensating for wear and maintaining optimum impeller clearance for peak performance; a split stuffing box which improves accessibility for easier and faster packing maintenance; a dual impeller adjustment offering quicker access for operators to perform impeller corrections; and a i-Alert condition monitor which measures vibration and temperature, and signals users with a blinking red LED when it detects a potential problem.

The heavy-duty slurry pump has a capacity range of 2,950 cubic metres per hour with up to 85m of discharge pressure. The XHD product range includes six models with between 80 and 300mm discharge and in four different power frames. The XHD pump is suited for use in Hydraulic Institute Service Class III (heavy) and Class IV (very heavy) applications.

‘The mining industry has seen significant improvements in extracting and crushing methods and this new pump provides that same leap in productivity for moving slurry,’ said John Manna, vice-president, global marketing for ITT. ‘We’ve designed the XHD based on detailed customer input and testing. And our field results indicate that the XHD pump will set new industry standards for reliable performance, quick maintenance and efficiency savings.’

The XHD range will be available from 1 December 2011, and ITT expect shipments to start in the first quarter of 2012.
