IIP Silver Award for EPC-UK's Bramble Island site

Company’s Bramble Island site achieves Silver Award accreditation from Investors in People

EPC-UK, specialists in commercial explosives and blasting services, have had their Bramble Island site successfully accredited as an Investors in People organization at the Silver Award level, after meeting the appropriate requirements of the latest Investors in People Framework.

Recognized for its work as an independent, not-for-profit company that helps organizations to lead, support and manage people to achieve sustainable results, Investors in People assesses, acknowledges and accredits businesses that meet its exacting standards in demonstrating excellence in people management.

The Silver Award accolade represents the first time EPC-UK have gone through the new Investors in People (IIP) Framework assessment, which is deemed to be more rigorous, up to date and challenging than the previous Framework against which Bramble Island was last assessed.

Having based their findings on three key principles of leading, supporting and improving, the IIP practitioner reported an overriding opinion of positivity, finding EPC-UK’s Bramble Island to be a welcoming site where people great take pride in their work and the business as a whole.

The team there succeeded in demonstrating best-practice benchmarks and a commitment to operating in line with core company values.

Delighted with the outcome, Ashley Haslett, EPC-UK’s head of manufacturing operations and head of SHEAQ (Atlantic Area), said: ‘This is a significant accomplishment for EPC-UK and our Bramble Island site. It is testament to the dedication our management teams have shown towards promoting our core values and creating positive working environments.

‘The IIP assessment report found Bramble Island to be; an aspirational business with a great deal of passion to develop a sustainable organization for the future, whilst retaining core values. The leadership team prides itself on quality and really looking after its people, who in turn take tremendous pride in their work. What is extremely clear to see is the strength of the values throughout the business and a desire to create a sustainable business for the future.

‘For an organization going through the new Investors in People (IIP) assessment process for the first time, we have accomplished a strong achievement and one that the whole team should be incredibly proud of.

‘However, as we move to put people management to the forefront of our culture, it is also important for us to understand where any gaps may exist and address these appropriately.

‘As we strive for continuous progression, EPC-UK will receive IIP reviews in 12- and 24-months, providing opportunities for the company to review its improvement plan and proactive employment engagement programme and exceed what is expected both by employees and future IIP assessments.’
