Hyundai introduce new 9A-series crawler excavator

Hyundai R220LC-9A excavator

Latest Interim Tier 4 R220LC-9A excavator model now available in the UK

HYUNDAI have expanded their range of 9A-series excavators with the addition of the R220LC-9A model, which provides operators with a certified Interim Tier 4 engine upgrade, improved hydraulics, increased operator comfort and added durability.

The new mid-size excavator model is powered by an Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB Cummins QSB6.7 engine (157hp) featuring a patented VGT turbocharger, which continuously varies the airflow boost to precisely match engine rev/min and load demands for optimal performance.

The engine also incorporates a Cummins direct-flow air filter designed to deliver better performance with faster cycle times and improved fuel economy over previous models. The R220LC-9A excavator also features a variable-speed fan clutch, two-stage auto decel system and Economy mode (in addition to Power and Standard modes) help to conserve fuel and reduce environmental impact.

The R220LC-9A has an operating weight of 22.5 tonnes, a maximum dig depth of 20ft 5in and a bucket breakout force of 29,980 lbs.

To achieve optimum precision, Hyundai have redesigned the R220LC-9A’s hydraulic system to provide the operator with super fine touch and controllability. Improved hydraulic valves, precision-designed variable volume piston pumps, fine-touch pilot controls and enhanced travel functions all help deliver a smoother operation, regardless of the operator’s experience level.

Other innovations include: a new auto boom and swing priority system for optimum speed; a new auto power-boost feature for additional power when needed; and an improved arm-in and boom-down flow regeneration system for added speed and efficiency.

The R220LC-9A has been designed with the optimum safety and visibility in mind. The machine features a new enlarged cab that comes with a see-through upper skylight, a larger one-piece right-side glass and safety glass windows on all sides to improve overall visibility.

As with all midi- and heavy-line Hyundai machines, the R220LC-9A is equipped with a Hi-Mate remote management system that allows operators and dealer service personnel to access the machine’s vital service and diagnostic information from anywhere that has Internet access.

Hi-Mate users can remotely monitor daily reports that outline a machine’s location, working hours, fuel consumption and any periodical maintenance needed, significantly reducing downtime and promoting preventative maintenance to help save the equipment owner time and money.
