HM Plant celebrate new partnership

UK dealer supplies three Hitachi Zaxis excavators to Coleg Menai’s new Heavy Plant Training Centre

THE Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) wholly owned subsidiary and UK dealer HM Plant is celebrating a new partnership with Coleg Menai (Menai College) in Wales. The agreement will see the delivery of three of the latest Hitachi Zaxis excavators to the new Heavy Plant Training Centre at the college’s Llangefni campus.

The ZX48U-5 mini, and ZX135US-5 and ZX225USRLC-5 medium excavators will be used to train local people in the skills needed to work on construction sites on Anglesey, and beyond, at the recently completed and soon-to-be-opened facility, which has been partly funded by the Welsh Government as part of an effort to create partnership agreements that help to kick-start the regeneration of the local and regional economy.

The partnership reflects the commitment shown by HM Plant and HCME to work with local organizations and ensure that an effective supply chain is in place for major infrastructure projects proposed for Anglesey over the coming years. These include the building of a new nuclear power station at Wylfa by Horizon Nuclear Power, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd.

HM Plant’s vice-president, Motsomu Sue, said: ‘These new Hitachi Zaxis-5 machines are fully equipped with the latest advanced technology in both hydraulic and electronic systems, as well as featuring engines with the latest environmental emission requirements. Therefore, they fit perfectly into Coleg Menai’s commitment to providing the training in technology required for industry now, and in the years to come.’

Coleg Menai principal Dafydd Evans commented: ‘We are really grateful to HM Plant and HCME for supplying these superb excavators and their readiness to develop a partnership with the college. Their support will enable us to provide a training facility equipped to a standard only available at world-class civil engineering training centres, and puts Coleg Menai at the heart of providing skills and training that are second to none.’
