Hitachi launch three new medium-sized excavators

Hitachi ZX210-7 medium excavator

Company widens Zaxis-7 excavator range with latest ZX210-7, ZX225US-7 and ZX225USR-7 models

HITACHI say they have put owners and operators at the heart of the design for their latest Zaxis-7 medium excavators – the ZX210-7, ZX225US-7 and ZX225USR-7.

The new look, Stage V-compliant machines, which have been designed to the highest quality and offer an enhanced operator experience, will provide fleet managers and earthmoving plant operators with opportunities to increase profit margins and reduce costs.

Impressive fuel economy can be delivered by the latest Zaxis-7 machines with up to 11% less fuel consumption than previous models, whilst Hitachi’s industry-leading TRIAS III hydraulic system ensures that medium-duty excavator performance can be achieved in every application.

In addition, owners can boost their profits by working on a wider range of projects thanks to the exceptional versatility of Zaxis-7 excavators. A variety of specifications means that the ZX210-7, ZX225US-7 and ZX225USR-7 can meet the requirements of any job site, including mono and two-piece boom, and long (LC) and narrow (LCN) undercarriage options for optimal stability or easy transportation.

In particular, the ZX225US-7 model has a class-leading, ultra-short swing radius of 1,680mm and an optional dozer blade. Different attachments are quickly changed using the enhanced attachment support system on the monitor.

An ultra-spacious cab found in the Zaxis-7 medium excavators provides a safe and comfortable working environment for operators with some of the lowest noise levels in the market and 16% less vibration (ZX210-7) than the previous generation. The cab of the ZX225US-7 and ZX225USR-7 has a 15cm wider door opening and an enlarged interior, with increased legroom for greater comfort.

Easy operation comes from the new ergonomic design of the console and switches, and convenient access to controls. Operators can navigate quickly through the menu on the 8in LCD monitor with the multifunctional controller. The hi-res anti-glare screen is also easier to view, and the refreshed layout offers a clear display and desirable functionality such as air-conditioning, DAB+ radio and Bluetooth.

The new Hitachi excavators provide a superior view of the job site for enhanced safety, thanks to the 270-degree bird’s-eye view provided by an aerial angle camera system. This is complemented by new LED work lights and a windscreen wiper with an increased sweeping area, allowing operators to work with confidence in difficult conditions.

In the ZX225US-7 and ZX225USR-7 models, visibility has been further improved to the front – due to lowering of the sash bar – and to the left thanks the relocation of the central pillar.

Tested rigorously at dedicated facilities in Japan, Hitachi say the Zaxis-7 machines have been built to last and to significantly boost uptime. This is maximized by easy maintenance and cleaning features, such as a wider engine door and cover openings on the ZX210-7, and a new filter layout, larger steps and engine cover on the ZX225US-7 and ZX225USR-7 excavators.

To help owners feel in total control of their fleets and workload, Hitachi’s remote monitoring systems – Owner’s Site and ConSite – give them access to vital data and tools. Both systems send operational data via GPRS or satellite from the excavator to Global e-Service on a daily basis. ConSite summarises the information in a monthly email, while the ConSite Pocket app shows real-team alerts for any potential issues.

‘We’re excited to launch the latest Zaxis-7 medium excavators,’ said Wilber Blom, product manager excavators for Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV.

‘They have been designed and engineered to help operators and owners to create their vision. We want to empower our customers to take control of their world, not only with our products, but also our people, solutions and services.’
