Hillhead provides route into New Zealand for Anaconda

Anaconda DF410 mobile screen

Anaconda Equipment, the Northern Ireland-based manufacturers of mobile screens and stockpiling conveyors, are currently enjoying considerable success in New Zealand.

Despite the fact that the company’s first tracked DF410 screen did not arrive in the country until October 2010, there are now eight Anaconda screens working there in a range of applications, mainly within the recycling sector.

Anaconda, who are represented in New Zealand by Mobile Screening & Crushing NZ Ltd, first met Andy Meikle from the Auckland-based company at the Hillhead quarry show, in Buxton, England, in June 2010.

Anaconda’s sales director, Con Gallagher, said: ‘Andy has found a really good market for our range of compact screens, which is really starting to grow. Our ability to ship all screens in 40ft containers without any breakdown is a huge selling point, as it reduces the shipping cost dramatically – this cost saving is passed on to the end-user, making the product price very attractive compared with other imported screens.’

The Anaconda range includes the DF410, SR410 and TD516 tracked screens, as well as several wheeled and tracked conveyors. The DF410 has been the dominant model in

the range and can be found working in a variety of recycling applications in New Zealand.

‘The DF410 has been particularly successful as it is versatile machine across a range of applications and has excellent throughput for such a compact screen,’ said Mr Gallagher.

‘One of the first applications involved the recovery of scrap metal from fines, enabling the company to sell the scrap metal for a good return.

‘Another recycling application was the recovery and reuse of utilities waste from a project near Auckland. The 0–20mm ‘fines’ were reused in the trenches dug to lay pipes and cables.

‘The DF410 has also been used to screen compost at the end of a waste-recovery cycle, which was then used for landscaping parks in the city of Christchurch.’
