Hillhead debut for Case material handlers

Case Construction Equipment showed their latest innovative materials handling solutions at the Hillhead exhibition, held 22-24 June in Buxton, Derbyshire. Both the CX240B MH and the CX210B MH have been developed by the Case Special Excavators (CSX) division, with a choice of booms, hydraulically-raised cab and counterweight options to suit a variety of handling tasks.

The CX240B MH materials handling machine is based on the successful CX240B crawler excavator. It is supplied with a 7.1m main boom and a 5.0m dipper arm, to provide superior reach and lifting capability. A choice of alternative sticks is available, along with a heavier 6.9-tonne counterweight that ensures total stability, even at full reach, providing confidence for the operator and increased operational performance.

The CX210B MH and the CX210B SL scrap loader are based on the CX210B crawler excavator; both models utilize the same 6.8m main boom. The CX210B MH, however, is equipped with a 4.8m straight arm for use with sorting grapples in waste, timber and refuse handling operations, while the CX210B SL has a 5.2m goose-neck dipper, for mass movement of industrial waste.

The machines benefit from the Case CX-B cab’s standard class-leading levels of low noise and vibration. The cabs slim pillars provides a good view to the working area, improving safety and productivity on site. Mounted on a rigid parallel lift structure, the cab can be raised by up to 5.06m hydraulically, affording the operator a commanding view of trucks, stockpiles and the working attachment.

A reclining operator’s seat is fitted as standard, along with air conditioning with nine outlet louvers, providing heating and ventilation in all weather conditions. Cup holders, a mobile phone holder and a built-in coolbox contribute to a wealth of internal storage compartments, providing the operator with a class-leading working environment.

Both the CX210B and the CX240B models are powered by a proven low-emission Isuzu diesel engine. The turbocharged and intercooled engine provides 157hp (117kW) of power and 628Nm of torque in the CX210B and 177hp (132kW) with 636Nm of torque in the larger CX240B.

The machines feature the Case Intelligent Computer Command Control System (ICCCS), providing the operator with complete control of engine output and hydraulic performance. Rapid boom raise and twin cylinder arms, combined with fast upper structure slew, contribute to short cycle times for maximum productivity.

The CX210B MH is particularly suitable for truck loading and yard work, while the larger CX240B MH is suitable for scrap handling and vessel loading.

The filters, fill points and regular service items can all be easily reached from ground level. Green engine oil drain taps ensure that there is no risk of ground contamination during regular preventative maintenance work.

Both the Case CX210B MH and the CX240B MH are equipped with Case Extended Maintenance System (EMS) bushes on the majority of pins. EMS bushings allow for 1,000h greasing intervals, reducing daily downtime and increasing productivity for the customer.
