Heavy-duty vibrators for Bardon Hill

Mogensen have supplied six type-TR1 heavy-duty vibratory feeders to Aggregate Industries as part of the multi-million pound upgrade of their plant at Bardon Hill Quarry.

'Five of the feeders, with trough dimensions of 1,250mm wide x 2,250mm long, are designed to handle up to 825 tonnes/h each of 0–250mm primary crushed granite. The sixth unit, with trough dimension of 1,600mm wide x 2,250mm long, will handle up to 1,650 tonnes/h of the same material. Three of the 825 tonnes/h machines extract stone from the primary stockpile. The 1,650 tonnes/h unit and the remaining two smaller ones are installed under a 400-tonne surge bin.'

'Power is supplied by two counter-rotating Invicta rotary electric vibrators per machine, type BL45-42/6 in the case of the smaller units and type BL45-50/6 for the larger one. The feeders offer variable speed/throughput and are controlled by Invicta-supplied 11kW Teco-Westinghouse type Speecon GA series inverters.'

All six feeders are compression spring mounted and are supported by independent frames suspended from the constructional steelwork by wire ropes. They are each supplied with an integral chute section fitted with a manually adjustable control gate. The chutes and feeder trough bases are lined with 10mm Arbro wear-resistant plate and the feeder side walls with 6mm plate.
