Hazemag machines for Estonian oil shale mine

WR roll crusher and wobbler feeder working in tandem help improve oil extraction process

HAZEMAG have supplied VKG Kaevandused OU, owners of the Ojamaa oil shale mine in north-eastern Estonia, with a WB roll crusher and wobbler feeder for use in size reduction of the mine’s oil shale rock deposits.

The wobbler feeder, located upstream of the roll crusher, handles approximately 1,000 tonnes/h of feed material, separating out the fines while conveying the remaining feed material to the crusher.

Around 250 tonnes/h of coarse material is crushed by the WB roll crusher (pictured) to the desired 0-125mm product size. The crusher has a fixed and a floating roll, which rotate contra-directionally, while the gap setting of the rolls offers infinitely variable hydraulic adjustment to suit specific product requirements.

In order to protect the machine against non-crushable objects, a hydraulically-operated release system retracts the floating roll, letting the object pass and then returns the roll to its original position.

The crushed oil shale, with an increased surface area, significantly aids the subsequent oil extraction processes undertaken at the mine.
