Hausherr celebrate 25 years

To celebrate Hausherr’s 25 years of manufacturing in the UK, the company have introduced the H-series range of drilling machines. The first model to be launched is the Viper, designed for 5in down-the-hole hammers working at up to 25 bar pressure.

The sole UK distributor for the H-series is Rock Drill Engineering Ltd of Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, with the first Viper having already been sold to McCrystal Drilling of Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

The Viper, which features a free-standing compressor, combines cost-effective performance with safety and comfort. The ergonomically designed FOPS cab is 35% larger than previous cab designs and features large solar-reflective tinted glass, stereo radio, in-cab lighting, air-conditioning and heating, and an adjustable seat featuring a vibration-damping system fitted as standard. An acoustic lining reduces noise levels to 72dBA. The engine is enclosed in a heavy-duty soundproofed housing with a firewall break separating the hydraulic valves, hoses, diesel and oil tanks. Emergency stop buttons are situated in and at the rear of the machine; there is also a battery-isolator switch.

The unit also features a high-capacity dust-collection system with pre-cyclone. With its oscillating tracks the Viper can manoeuvre in tight corners and over rough, steep ground, and as the overall width of the rig and compressor is less than the road transport regulations, it is quick and easy to transport.

The multi-position mast/boom is hydraulically aligned for a range of drilling angles, including toe-hole drilling, while the hydraulically controlled drill rod uncoupling device is operated from the cab. The hammer’s variable oil-injection lubrication system and automatic feed/hold-back system gives maximum perfor-mance and extends tool life.

Safety features include: a remote tramming platform for compressor uncoupling; a dual tram/drill isolator; emergency stops; reversing siren; warning beacon; fire extinguisher; and operational lighting.

Several low-cost options are available including: a 4m drill tube; electronic monitoring with engine shut-down; electric three-axis inclinometer; drill log with optional computer down-loading facility; automatic fire extinguisher; HEPA filters; auto-greasing; and a larger-capacity dust collector.

Hausherr provide commissioning and training for up to 10 working days with full service and parts support.
