Hard coating to combat abrasive wear

"Chapmans Ltd, working with the University of Sheffield’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, have developed a sintered coating called Armatech, designed to increase the life of any part subject to abrasive wear."

"The process was initially developed to combat excessive wear encountered in the use of agricultural machinery but was found to also have applications in quarrying equipment, construction plant, production engineering, waste-recycling plant, concrete and asphalt plants etc. According to Chapmans, Armatech can protect wear parts as well as increasing their working life by three to four times."

Armatech creates no thermal stresses or distortion and can be easily applied to thin sections or to parts with complex geometry. The coating contains carbides and borides that deliver hardness levels in excess of 65 HRC as well as providing a high degree of impact strength.
