Hanson order Sennebogen crane

Hanson Aggregates will soon be taking delivery of Sennebogen’s latest grabbing crane — the 80-tonne capacity 680HD.

The unit, to be delivered by E.H. Hassell & Sons, is the first 680HD configuration in Europe. With 160kN winches and powered by a 200kW Deutz engine, the crane is fitted with a 28.9m boom and 3.5–8.0m3 clamshell bucket. It also features a hydraulically elevating, high-level cab that can be raised from 2.5m to a height of 8m.

Hanson Aggregates South will be using the machine at their new deep-water wharf at Victoria Deep, Greenwich, to discharge a variety of bulk aggregate cargoes. The site is the last deep-water wharf on the river and is a new venture for the company. ‘Previously we used to bring a lot of material through the Medway ports, but this wharf will allow us to bring in ships with capacities up to 15,000 tonnes,’ said Colin Atkinson, Hanson Aggregates’ London manager.

As with all dock cranes, production speed is critical as boats need to be unloaded as quickly as possible. As well as being impressed with the performance of the 680HD, Hanson Aggregates were also delighted with its build quality.

All Sennebogen cranes are custom-built to suit individual end-user requirements, ensuring the crane is specified for optimum performance.
