Further sales in Scotland for Kleemann UK

Adding to the growing presence of Kleemann + Reiner crushing and screening equipment in Scotland, UK suppliers Kleemann UK Ltd have secured two further successes north of the border with Patersons of Greenoakhill and Barr Holdings Ltd.

Patersons required a stand-alone system to boost the production of their existing static plant at Dunduff Quarry in South Lanarkshire. To achieve this, new mobile crushing and screening units were needed to operate at the face producing +100mm oversize, –100mm +40mm and –40mm products. The tracked machines selected for the task comprise a 75-tonne Mobicat MCB 122 Z primary jaw crusher and a 35-tonne Mobiscreen MS 18 Z-AD direct-feed screening unit.

According to production manger David Fraser, Kleemann + Reiner machines were chosen because their build quality is superior to the competition. ‘The jaw crusher is a long-established model and after viewing two machines working on hard stone we were suitably impressed,’ he said. ‘The fully independent pre-screen before the jaw was a definite plus point as we have areas in the quarry where the blast can have many fines which can be difficult to process.

‘The screen was initially attractive because of the ability to power this unit from the jaw crusher. Fuel-saving benefits were impossible to ignore, therefore we viewed this machine working and were very impressed once again with the build quality.’

The Mobicat unit features an 8m3 hopper, a 400kVA gen-set and offers a 300 tonnes/h throughput capability. The fully independent pre-screen vibrates elliptically and separately from the feeder (linear vibration) significantly increasing the amount of product bypassing the crusher. This in turn reduces wear and increases throughput. A vibrating feeder mounted directly under the jaw crusher spreads the crushed material on to the 1.4m wide discharge belt.

The jaw crusher feeds directly into the Mobiscreen’s 4m3 feed hopper, the material being conveyed to the screen via a 1.4m wide variable-speed belt conveyor. The 1.8m x 5m screen area is equipped with 100mm punch plate and 40mm mesh. The unit’s discharge conveyors have a discharge height of up to 4.85m.

Kleemann UK have supplied another Mobicat MCB 122 Z mobile primary jaw crusher to Barr Holdings Ltd’s Sorn Quarry in Ayrshire, where the crusher is now working with an existing secondary cone crusher to boost production. These mobile units are working at the face producing three final products plus scalpings.

Production manager Andrew Gillon also opted for Kleemann because of the machine’s build quality. ‘We looked at various machines working on hard stone and were very impressed with the increased performance level of the Kleemann over the competition. It’s a very robust unit,’ he said.
