Free training opportunity for truck drivers

OPERATORS in the aggregates sector are being sought to take part in a new Department for Transport (DfT) study where participants will receive free Safe and Fuel Efficient Driver (SAFED) training.Project managers AECOM are seeking participation from up to 720 drivers, whose driving performance will be monitored for 12 months after they receive the training. The new study will look into the benefits of SAFED training and will help the DfT to gain a greater understanding of the immediate benefits of SAFED.More importantly, it will also show when the benefits start to diminish and therefore indicate when refresher training is most appropriate.  ‘This innovative study will help identify the fuel and safety benefits of driver training and how they can be maintained,’ said project manager Scott Hardy.‘It is an excellent opportunity for operators in the aggregates sector to take advantage of free training that will help them save fuel and save money.’
Transport operators interested in taking part should contact Mr Hardy on tel: (0161) 927 8398; or email: scott.hardy@aecom.com
