Bell L2606E wheel loader

Construction materials supplier acquires new Bell L2606E wheel loader following successful demonstration

HILLS Quarry Products have purchased a new machine from Bell Equipment for the first time, after a successful demonstration confirmed its reliability and performance. The Wiltshire-based firm made a decision to acquire a Bell L2606E wheel loader for the loading and stockpiling of aggregates at its Shorncote Quarry, in South Cerney, Gloucestershire.

‘Any loader chosen for use by the Hills Group needs to be a strong workhorse and a reliable machine, so we’re delighted that our L2606E has made the grade and been incorporated into the company’s 26-strong wheel-loader fleet,’ explained Robin Piper, national account manager for Bell Equipment.

Andrew Liddle, Hills Quarry Products’ production manager, added: ‘Shorncote Quarry is a highly productive site delivering 330,000 tonnes of aggregate material every year. With such demanding levels of productivity we only use truly dependable loading machinery – equipment that has the capability to perform and won’t let us down.’

The Hills Group’s research process in sourcing the right machine to load sand and gravel at Shorncote’s quarry face was extensive. The company trialled models from four other manufacturers, including its traditional supplier, alongside the Bell L2606E loader, as part of the process to select a machine that could cope easily with the challenges presented.

Mr Liddle continued: ‘We were impressed with Bell Equipment from the start. Their level of commitment and service had notable strength, and the quality of their equipment was easily on par with machines produced by other competitors.

‘We added this to the considerable value of Bell’s L2606Es in terms of the number of features included in the machine specification as standard, and it was clear that this machine has been produced by a quality supplier, is ideal for task and has the potential to offer a excellent return on investment.’

According to Nick Learoyd, managing director of Bell Equipment UK, the company has received positive feedback from the Hill Group regarding their L2606E purchase.

He commented: ‘It’s great news that such a prominent company as the Hills Group has selected a loader from our range, against the strong competition that’s out there. We’ve heard satisfying reports that the quarry operatives are as pleased with the operational features of the L2606E as the company management are with the loader in terms of its specification and performance.

‘Feedback such as this is exactly what we want to hear, and gives us the confirmation that the machinery we’re producing is exactly what firms such as the Hills Group are looking for.’
