Finning awarded Perkins distributorship in Great Britain
FINNING International Inc., the largest independent dealers of Caterpillar equipment and parts, have been awarded exclusive distribution rights for Perkins engines and parts in Great Britain from 1 December 2004.
Finning International, who are already sole distributors for Perkins engines in Chile, through a subsidiary, Diperk, and in western Canada, will launch a new specialist division –– Diperk (UK) Ltd –– based in Peterborough and headed by managing director Marcello Marchese. It is expected that over 100 jobs will be created.
Commenting on the new agreement, Mr Marchese said: ‘This is an important milestone for Finning in its strategy to grow its international power and energy business. Securing sole distribution rights in Great Britain is a tremendous opportunity for us to build upon the ongoing partnership between the two companies.’
Nigel Parkinson, product support and distribution director at Peterborough-based Perkins Engines, added: ‘Our intention is to provide our customers with the most comprehensive, efficient and reliable service. To do this we needed to select a partner that has the resources to invest and create the appropriate infrastructure.’
